Fine quality and large early 20th Century African Benin tribal ceremonial container/medicine pot, c1920. Nicely cast in the traditional lost wax method, it has great colour/patination.
The pot is beautifully and intricately decorated with a large central circular motif. The handles comprise attendants climbing a ladder, and the base is made up of a series of circles. The lid shows King Obe and various attendants playing a traditional African game.
