Antique mid 20th century hardwood replica carving traditionally found on the prow of a war canoe in the Solomon Islands, c1950.
It is a fine quality carving, heavy (2.2kg) with lovely mother of pearl inlay and was used traditionally by warriors on headhunting expeditions.
It has aged well with great rich colour/patina. Overall condition is good with only minor surface wear/rubbing.
