Stunning quality antique art nouveau wood and silver clad Portuguese mantle clock, c1900. It appears to be made of Rosewood or similar and is profusely clad in silver in an art nouveau style. There is a Portuguese silver mark of the boar and it is marked in several places with the makers name "Leitao and Irmao Lisboa; Leitao & IR and Artigos Lheieos Dacaroa, Lisboa".
They are probably the finest Goldsmiths/Jewellers/Clock makers in Portugal and one of the best in the world. They were established in the 18th century and have been Crown/Imperial Jewellers/clockmakers to the Portuguese and Brazilian Crown/Imperial House. We had it checked out by the person who does clock repairs for us and he had it running without any problems so it appears to be in good working order.
Overall condition is good. There is very minor surface wear in line with age and use and there is a minor repair to the stand at the rear which appears to have been glued. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions or if you would like to view the item.
