A lovely pair of large 19th Century African Benin tribal bronze statues depicting male and female figures, c1890. These are impressive examples with lovely primitive detailing and tribal look.
They are nicely cast in the traditional lost-wax method and are well decorated. They are in good original condition, with only minor surface wear and verdigris. They have the usual casting features you get from older African pieces, for instance one base is slightly offset, but this is all part of their charm.
Both have aged well, with good colour/patina. The pair weigh 8.4 kg. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions or if you would like to view the items.
